HH Hanumat Presaka Swami grew up in California and graduated in psychology from University of California in 1970. After his doctoral studies, he then went on to travel east, being attracted by oriental wisdom, where he obtained a black belt in Uechi Ryu and Okinawan Karate.

Shortly thereafter, he took his vows as a brahmacari (novice monk) from Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami and reconfirmed those vows as a sanyasi (life long monk) in 1984.

Maharaja has spent his life traveling and spreading this vedic wisdom to one and all.
